In today’s show, we had the opportunity to speak with Ryan Mans, the manager of the Association for Reformed Political Action (ARPA) in Ontario, about why he was in attendance. “We march to be a voice for the voiceless, to be a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves. And so 36 years ago in our nation, the Supreme Court of Canada knocked down our abortion laws, making abortion available to everybody for any reason, or no reason at all through all nine months of pregnancy, and that is just unjust. And most Canadians would agree with us that that is unjust, that needs to stop. And so we want to bring awareness to the death of about up to 4 million babies at the hands of abortion over the last 36 years. And so that’s why we’re marching today to bring a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves.” “But we want more than that; is for people to come and join us and to get involved and get engaged in the pro-life message the whole year round to bring this to more people. Continue to change hearts, change minds, we work to change laws as well so that we can save lives ultimately.”An overwhelming theme amongst attendees of the 2024 National March for Life, Canada, was a desire for more support for expectant mothers. Special consideration has also been given to those mothers whose babies had been conceived through assault. Even in these circumstances, mothers have reported that abortion did not provide the solutions and peace that they were hoping for. “I do know someone who’s had an abortion due to sexual assault. She is a pro-life advocate today. She had an abortion when she was younger because of sexual assault, and did not know much about abortion when she chose that choice, unfortunately. And the only solution she was provided during that time was abortion. In her story that she shared with people, and she shared with me, she shares that abortion, the trauma of abortion, follows her longer than the trauma of sexual assault. Because abortion has killed her child. And abortion basically did not help her to heal from the trauma of sexual assault. It just created a different wound in her heart.”Another attendee, Keturah Dumaine, the Eastern Strategic Initiatives Coordinator at the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform, also shared important insights on this topic. “I’ve also met women who decided to keep their children to go through difficult pregnancies as a result of the pro-life movement, spreading the message of love and human rights for all human beings. There are, very difficult situations that people face. [...] So, in those situations, we really need, it’s so important, to find solutions, to find care, and support for women who experienced such difficult situations without intentionally killing their child.”
