According to Ethiopian tradition, the Ark of the Covenant was brought to Aksum by Menelik, the son of King Solomon of Israel and the Queen of Sheba, around 3,000 years ago. This story is found in the book “Glory of Kings,” the fourteenth-century Ethiopian national epic also called the Kebra Nagast.
