One day in 2016, rescuers found a severely wounded 2-year-old Golden Retriever in a garbage bag. Members of Nabiya Irion Hope Project rescued her and gave her urgent medical treatment. "Chi Chi" had lost all her legs, but not her strong will to live. The joint mission to give Chi Chi a new life brought these two noble organizations together, Nabiya-Irion Hope Project and ARME. Shannon Keith and her team at ARME found Chi Chi a loving home with Richard and Elizabeth Howell in Arizona, USA. After being fitted with special prostheses, Chi Chi trained to become a certified therapy dog. She then spent her life serving and comforting people in hospitals and social care centers until she passed away in 2019. She brought so much joy and happiness to people she was named the 2018 American Hero Dog. Touched by the love shared between Chi Chi and her rescuers, beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai tearfully sent, "a heartfelt thanks to all involved and a big hug to Chi Chi! You'll go to a forever Heaven and your benevolent adopted family be blessed forever." Master also presented the Shining World Compassion Award to both noble organizations, Nabiya-Irion Hope Project and ARME, and a US$10,000 contribution to each "with high salute and thankfulness. May all involved be immensely blessed."
