If you use LED lighting near your bird companion’s cage, the type matters more than you might think. Many cheap LEDs flicker too quickly for us to notice, but bird-people can detect it, which may leave them unsettled or stressed. Standard LEDs also tend to cast a harsh, blue-heavy light that looks little like natural daylight, which can feel unnatural to bird-folk. Placement counts too. Ordinary ceiling or desk lights are not built for cages, so they often leave parts in shadow and miss the gentle shift of sunrise and sunset. The better choice is a flicker-free LED that gives steady, broad-spectrum light close to daylight. Position it to light the cage evenly and keep a consistent day-and-night routine to support your bird companion’s natural rhythms.
