Tick-borne emergency room visits have hit the highest levels since 2017 for April in the US. Driven by shorter winters, cases of Lyme disease, Powassan virus, and Alpha-gal syndrome are rising sharply. Authorities urge immediate full-body checks after being outdoors and proper tick removal as soon as possible to lessen disease transmission risk (Fox News)

Such a diet was defined as prioritizing “whole grains, fruits, vegetables, vegetable oils, nuts, legumes, tea and coffee.” Shifting toward unhealthy plant-based choices, defined as “added sugars, fruit juices, refined grains, and potatoes that tend to be eaten as part of fast foods or processed meals,” increases risk by 25%, while dietary improvements over time away from an unhealthful diet lower dementia risk by 11% (Plant Based News, Newswise)

A new analysis shows global warming makes the Hajj [annual Islamic pilgrimage] increasingly dangerous as 40°C heat now arrives as early as May in Mecca [Saudi Arabia], when previously it would generally only occur in summer. Scientists warn pilgrims face dangerous heat year-round by century’s end without rapid greenhouse gas emissions cuts. While Saudi Arabia expands cooling stations and other services to help pilgrims cope, researchers emphasize that cutting emissions is vital (The Guardian)

A French court sentences a woman to a suspended prison term and more than €30,000 in damages for beating a lynx-person to death in Alsace [France], a ruling that sharply contrasts with Switzerland’s far lighter penalties for recent illegal lynx-folk killings and exposes a cross-border enforcement gap that conservationists warn is undermining protection of this endangered species (Wild beim Wild)
A critically endangered global population of orange-fronted parakeet-people — now down to roughly 450 bird-individuals worldwide — gets a major boost thanks to a prolific breeding pair that has produced 55 chicks, more than 10% of the entire species (Taipei Times)

In Wayne Cesaro’s three-part near-death experience, American author Wayne shares how a heart attack during respiratory failure sent him beyond his body and through four distinct phases — including the presentation of his late wife, former enemies, beloved animal companions, and others whose lives had somehow connected with his own.
Wayne, over 70 years young and in excellent health from decades of regular gym training, caught an illness from his granddaughter that he initially dismissed as a cold. While splitting five cords of firewood on his rural acreage, he began experiencing worsening vertigo and difficulty breathing. He walked back up to the house, and the moment he closed the gate behind him, he suddenly felt as if he had been hit by a truck. He fell to his knees, unable to breathe properly. He called emergency services, and by the time paramedics arrived, he was in and out of consciousness. Wayne had told emergency responders he was a DNR — do not resuscitate. However, his daughter, who had rushed straight to the hospital against his instructions, walked into the emergency room just as Wayne was coding [code blue / cardiac arrest], declared herself his power of attorney, and commanded the team to resuscitate him. Wayne had suffered from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), pneumonia, the flu, and a heart attack — his heart had stopped for somewhere between 1 minute and 21 seconds and 2 minutes and 20 seconds. As he lay half-conscious in the emergency room, Wayne felt himself detach from his body. Then, without intending it, he was suddenly out.
I’m out. I’m out of my body. I no longer have any feeling whatsoever of association with anything physical. I’m sitting there, I’m there, and it feels like I’m laying down. Everything around me is white, as if I would be in the middle of a white cloud with a lot of sunlight coming in. It wasn’t the impenetrable white Light, it was comfortable white Light. What I got from the white Light, it felt like the white Light was everywhere around me. I have no body or anything, and I’m even part of the white Light, and then the white Light seemed to have a consciousness that said, that commanded me compassionately, “Peace. Be at peace.”
For some period of time, then, I started to get feelings. The feelings that I got came in from different charismata [spiritual gifts]. The feeling of being that I used to get when I was on my grandmother’s lap when I was a child, and she would wash my face before sending me off to school. The feeling that I would have when a buddy came up and elbowed me in the side and joked around with me. That feeling. The feeling of being on a deck of a boat under full sail, and with the wind and spray in my hair. These feelings were associated with some cohesive consciousness. So, I’m sitting there — or laying there on this bed — for quite some time, and I’m getting one feeling after another from all these different experiences, and all the experiences seem to have been memories or coming from when I was younger.
In Part 2, Wayne moves into the next phase of his experience, where figures begin to be presented to him — starting with the wife he had lost years earlier. I saw my wife. It wasn’t a personal kind of meeting where we communicated and hugged or anything. It was as if she was being presented to me, and I saw her as she looked 40 years ago, even better, and she was surrounded by members of the animal kingdom, and what looked as if they were Sainted beings behind her because they kind of glowed. Join us tomorrow for Part 2 of 3 of Wayne Cesaro’s near-death experience. (JeffMara Podcast)
