In today’s news, United States pledges funds to support global relief efforts. Loss of snow on Greek mountains endangers crucial water sources, solar canal energy-project shows positive results in California, USA, Saudi Arabia to restore more than 500 of its heritage towns, Pakistani man provides lifeline for injured stray animal-people, Malaysian vegan café attracts diners with creative dishes, and raid of illegal zoo in Argentina inspires push for stronger wildlife laws.

Got any touch up carpentry to do around the house or office? Here is a useful tip for you. One of the most common mistakes beginners make when cutting wood is forgetting about the saw’s “kerf.” The kerf refers to the width of material removed by the saw blade during a cut. In other words, the blade doesn’t just split the wood; it actually removes a small amount of it, turning that material into sawdust. If you don’t account for this, your measurements can end up slightly off. This becomes especially important when making precise cuts. To keep your measurement accurate, position the blade so the kerf falls on the waste side of the cut, not the piece you plan to keep. Otherwise, your final piece may end up slightly shorter than intended. While this difference may not matter for every project, it can make a big impact when precision is important.

Have you heard that laughter improves digestion? We haven’t either, but let’s laugh with today’s joke anyway. It’s entitled, “No Appointment Needed.”

Lena’s car had been roaring down the street like a motorcycle, so she asked her brother Marty about calling the muffler shop.

“Do you think I need to make an appointment?”

“With that muffler? No.”

“Why not?”

“Trust me. They’ll hear you coming.”

?!

And now we have a heartline from Hallie in the United Kingdom
