My relationship with food before being vegan was not at all healthy. I was very restrictive with what I was eating, constantly worried about my weight. I would count calories. I’d measure out food. I had a very unhealthy relationship with food because I was worried [that] everything I put in my mouth is going to make me put on weight. I didn’t eat hardly any carbohydrates. I didn’t feel good at all. I felt rubbish. When I switched to a plant-based diet, that guilt, that pressure just went away. All of a sudden, I could eat what I wanted to eat. I could eat until I was full. I didn’t get that bloated feeling after meals. And not only that, I lost weight. I was like, “What is this magic diet?” It was so easy. All I was doing was eating real foods.
