Enlightening quote of the day: “The first form of devotion is keeping the company of Saints.” – Lord Sri Rama (Ramachandra) (vegetarian) Beloved Hindu God (Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas)
Previously in Part 1 of this three-part series on Kim Keel’s near-death experience, Kim described overdosing and finding herself in an unfamiliar desert. There, her mother, who was still alive on Earth, directed her toward Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian), who appeared as a child teaching a group of men beside a barn. As Kim reached the end of a white picket fence, a voice warned that one more step would take her into outer darkness, with no return. Kim turned and saw Lord Jesus Christ, now appearing as an adult. She walked around to face Him, with the fence still between them. He was taller than she was, with a beard and what she described as ancient, elongated facial bone structure.
And I remember thinking, “There are no pupils in those eyes, man. Just forever. Eternity, man.” Just bluish, grayish, green. Oh, my goodness. The most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen. He just stares me down for a while, and I’m thinking, “Why is He looking at me like that? Why isn’t He saying anything? Oh, dear God. Why did He stop me? Why did He give me another chance? He can put His hands on me and throw me in hell, man.” […] My thoughts are like a wagon wheel, just—and all of a sudden, He just nods His head down, and He smiled. This is where I tripped [overreacted]. He smiled at me. The most beautiful smile, man. And I was like, “What’s He doing?” […] He stretched that right hand across and laid it on my left shoulder right here, right there. And when He did that, He let me feel enormous wailing pain.
And He said— before I even asked Him, I didn’t even ask Him— He said, “I forgive you.” He laid that hand right there. Now, I’m shocked. I’m like, “What?” I have cursed Him out, done drugs, everything you think of, man. What? He forgives me. And He ordains that, “You’re going to teach the people My Word.” When He laid [His hand on] me here, He let me feel some pain. It was enormous pain. […] And I knew that this was pain that we cause Him when we reject Him. […] [And] He let me feel enormous Love like I can’t explain. It’s pure. Not like we have here. Kim understood that she had felt only a small part of His Love and pain. She recognized that His anguish came from watching His children reject Him and go to hell. And I felt that. He let me feel that. And then the Love, the Love. Oh, my goodness. Reflecting on that Love, Kim says our family, friends, and church community offer us a glimpse of Love in Heaven with Lord Jesus Christ. Even so, earthly love is only a shadow of that Heavenly Love.
In Part 3, Kim recalls seeing a vast crowd of people who believed they were Christians, yet whom she understood were being denied entry into Heaven. And I saw all those people screaming and hollering, “Let me in. I belong there.” And He’s like, “I don’t know you.” And I was like, “Oh, my goodness.” Join us tomorrow for Part 3, the conclusion of this three-part series on Kim Keel’s near-death experience.
