And that fast, I was standing in Heaven. The first thing out of my mouth, I say, “Can I go back? I need to comfort Carol.” American near-death experiencer Robert Marshall shares how he died for three and a half days, spent 44 hours walking with Lord Jesus through Heaven, received a complete miracle healing, and returned with detailed Biblical knowledge and a new body.
Robert, 76, had accepted Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian) as his Lord and Savior in 1984, but wasn’t living as a committed Christian. On May 17, 2024, he went to a Fort Worth emergency room, struggling to breathe and swallow due to a massive neck growth doctors believed was aggressive cancer. After being intubated, Robert was admitted to the ICU (intensive care unit) Two days later, when doctors removed the breathing tube, the mass rolled over his airway, and he suffocated to death. Medical staff performed CPR [cardiopulmonary resuscitation] for 15 minutes before restarting his heart.
I left my body, and I remember hovering above my body and looking down and going like, “Wow.” I’m watching all the nurses and the doctors. They ended up breaking my ribs doing CPR [cardiopulmonary resuscitation], trying to get my heart going. I drifted out to the hall, and I saw my wife just crying; she was just hysterical, as you can imagine, and literally there were puddles of tears on the floor. I knew something wasn’t normal here. I’m not with my body. And then that fast I was standing in Heaven. I didn’t see a tunnel; I was just in Heaven.
Robert found himself at the edge of a vast inner courtyard in Heaven. I could feel, I could smell, I could hear, I could do everything. There were trees and bushes. I’m looking at the trees and the flowers, and just everything is just so massive, so beautiful and brilliant. The colors are so vibrant and bright. It’s not like three-dimensional; it’s like gazillion-dimensional. Different colors they don’t even have here. I am feeling the most peaceful, loving feeling. It’s like a huge giant hug. It’s like you’re connected to everything, and everything just fills you with love.
We always say that Jesus is the light. Well, that’s literal. His light lights up all of Heaven, and in His light is His love that carries out and comfort that just permeates everything and everybody. Everybody’s connected by that love. It’s just like a giant hug. Every tree, every flower, every plant gives off what I call a little melodic tone or hum, and they all combine together for a song that’s singing praises to Jesus all day long. Every plant, every flower, all give off a special little scent of their own that, once again, combined together, makes the most beautiful fragrance and smell of air. It’s like fresh air and just everything you could even imagine.
Robert recognized his father, who had died in 2011, now appearing about 35 years old in perfect health. I walked up to him, and I said, “Dad?” He says, “Well, you did it now, didn’t you, son?” And I’m going, “Dad, I didn’t do anything, I died.” He goes, “I know.” I say, “Who’s that over there?” And he said, “Who do you think it is?” I say, “Jesus.” And he goes, “Yes.”
Suddenly, Robert was back in his body. Doctors had restarted his heart, but while trying to perform a tracheotomy, they nicked an artery. Robert bled into his lungs and died again. Meanwhile, his wife refused to let doctors end life support. After 17 minutes, doctors revived Robert again. He drowned in his own blood and died a third time. He’d now been without oxygen for 35 minutes. Doctors told Carol her husband was brain dead and wanted to end life support, but she refused.
Robert returned to Heaven. I saw the silhouette of Jesus. I walked over, and as I approached, I didn’t start with my right knee, and my left knee; I just fell full prostrate, straight face down on the ground, crying like a baby. Not tears of sorrow, but tears of joy and humility. I was laying in front of my Lord and Savior, the Creator of the entire Universe. He stood, and He walked over to me, and He reached down with His hand. He says, “Take my hand and stand; we’ve much to talk about.” He helped me up, He wiped my tears, and said, “It’s going to be okay; let’s walk and talk.” The first thing out of my mouth, I say, “Can I go back?” I said, “I need to comfort Carol.” Because I remembered her in the anguish that she was going [through].
Lord Jesus Christ never answered. He and Robert walked through Heaven for 43 hours and 28 minutes of Earth time while Robert’s body remained clinically dead. I’m walking with Jesus hand in hand. As we walked through Heaven, we walked and talked. He talked mostly. He was teaching. He taught me about the Bible. He taught me when time began, the Creation, from Genesis all the way through Revelation. He taught me why there seem to be things in the Bible that can be interpreted different ways or what appear to be contradictions, but they’re not. Why He used parables, examples, what we need to do. Taught me what truly is salvation in faith, everything. He shared with me what He wants me to share with other people because of the questions people have.
Lord Jesus Christ showed Robert his future mansion in Heaven and explained the new Heavens and new Earth. Finally, they returned to the inner courtyard. He says, “Your brain has been destroyed. Your body’s been ravaged. When your body is without oxygen, it eats away the muscles; it eats everything. I could not send you back because if I were to send you back to your body you would be self-contained within that physical body, and you would not be able to comfort or help anybody. However, I could and would send you back with some caveats.” He said, “First, I’ll send you back with a miracle that nobody could ever deny.” When I say “I” and God — this is Him talking — “that I am God and I did this, and there’s no question that I’m alive, I’m real, Heaven is real. And they will never be able to question that.”
He says, “Now, I will send you back as if you had never died, as if you had never had anything wrong with you in your entire life. First, I will give you a new brain; I will restore your entire memory. I will restore your heart, your liver, your kidneys. I will give you everything new.” He says, “And I will command you to share everything that I taught you, everything you learned, everything that you experienced in Heaven, including how you died, why you died, what happened to you, and the miracle that I performed to bring you back.” When you go back, you will experience, when you enter your body, every bit of pain that your body is going through until you leave the hospital and fully recover, as if you had no anesthesia.”
On May 23, 2024, after being dead for three and a half days, Robert squeezed Carol’s fingers. When a shocked doctor asked him to raise his arms, Robert raised both. The doctor ordered an MRI [magnetic resonance image], which showed Robert had a perfect brain with no damage. A tracheotomy hole in Robert’s neck healed overnight without a scar. His blood type changed from A to O, and his DNA no longer matched his military records. The following morning, after an emergency MRI, the attending physician returned with results no one in the room expected. And the doctor says, “I got the results back. There’s nothing wrong; he’s got a perfect brain. There’s no sign of anything anywhere.” The doctors admitted there is nothing that we did; there’s no medical explanation for this. There’s absolutely no way; this is no question a miracle.
Robert Marshall’s story stands as his testimony: a journey through death, a walk with Lord Jesus, and a return marked by a miracle no doctor could explain. (Next Level Soul Podcast)
