In this episode, we will learn about the experiences of two pro-life women from Spain: Ms. Noelia Pérez Lorente, a spokesperson for Amasuve, and Ms. Leire Navaridas Zomeño (vegetarian), the founder of Postabortion Union and the Amasuve organization. We will also explore the work of Amasuve, a non-profit, non-denominational, and apolitical organization that provides care, support, and information to women and men affected by abortion. Amasuve helps individuals recognize and address the emotional wounds caused by abortion and offers resources for post-abortion healing.

While society often denies the many negative impacts of abortion on the lives and health of would-be mothers— and sometimes fathers— many women report lasting detrimental effects that persist for years until they receive support. This was the experience of Ms. Noelia Pérez Lorente. Later in life, after marrying and starting a family with her husband, she faced numerous unexpected post-abortion traumas during her pregnancy and after the birth of her son. She also encountered difficulties bonding with her baby. Ms. Pérez Lorente worked through her anguish, grief, fear, and the emotional trauma that she experienced as a result of the abortions. It was a journey towards healing.

“But also, in dreams, my mother had a dream that, when I had healed all this and given names to all my children (lost through abortions). It happened two or three days after that, exactly. I had an appointment with my psychologist, I gave him a name, and it's like I’ve completely given my children their place in the family. That is, he transmitted to my mother peace and love.”

As the founder of Amasuve, Ms. Leire Navaridas Zomeño (vegetarian) has heard many stories like that of Ms. Noelia Pérez Lorente. She has also experienced her own pain from abortion-related trauma and shares her insights on how abortion can cause lasting emotional suffering for many women.

Ms. Leire Navaridas Zomeño (vegetarian) also helps women who have experienced health problems as a result of abortions. “I do accompany mothers who may have had their uterus perforated or have been bleeding to death for a long time, because they have left remains of their children inside, or they have become sterile; they haven’t had their periods anymore. In other words, there are many times when the physical consequence is very visible.”

Another insight Ms. Leire Navaridas Zomeño (vegetarian) shares is how abortion can lead to loneliness and the importance of rebuilding connections. “But, in the end, the thing is that you have to put love in the center of your life. In other words, human beings, without being supported by relationships, we cannot fulfil ourselves, we can’t heal ourselves, we can’t do any of that.”
